The Northern Local School District is pleased to announce our new partnership with the Licking Regional Educational Service Center, in support of our gifted and high achieving students. The Licking Regional ESC serves school districts and their families throughout Perry, Muskingum, and Licking county, helping teachers to address the educational needs of over 4,700 students within their partnering districts.
Within our district, students are regularly evaluated for gifted identification at 2nd and 6th grade in the areas of reading, math, and cognitive ability. However, parents may request additional testing, at any grade-level, from your gifted coordinator, Alesha Haybin. Gifted testing is usually requested when a student has not already been identified as gifted, and/or when a student is showing sustained excellence within the classroom over a period of several months or years. To be identified as gifted, students must score in the top 5% when compared to other same-age peers across the country.
Testing for gifted referrals will be available throughout the year. The deadline for each referral window is listed below.
If you would like to refer your child for testing, please CLICK HERE for a link to our gifted referral form. You will be contacted within three business days to confirm the receipt of your referral.
We value our partnership with the Licking Regional ESC! We look forward to continuing to support our gifted and high achieving students, while also looking toward the expansion of our gifted services in the near future.
